Our 18 Year Fight to Remove GST from Exercise Physiology Services
We're excited to share that EFRH was recently featured on Channel 9 News for our fight to make exercise medicine more affordable for all Australians.
The story featured Doug, a former army veteran with type 2 diabetes who's been working with our exercise physiologists. His results have been amazing; he's reduced his diabetes medication, lost weight, and can be active again.
Too many people who need our help simply can't afford it. Rising costs mean our most vulnerable patients (elderly people, those managing chronic conditions, etc) are missing out on care that could keep them healthy and out of hospital.
What We're Fighting For
We're calling on the government to fund $400 health vouchers for Australians with cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic conditions. This would let them access exercise professionals like our team.
The facts are clear: every $1 spent on exercise programs saves $14 in future healthcare costs. We also want exercise physiology to become GST exempt, like other health services. Removing that 10% charge would make our services more accessible straight away.
At EFRH, we see how exercise medicine transforms lives every day. We help people manage diabetes, recover from cancer, and stay independent. But access shouldn't depend on how much money you have. Everyone deserves the chance to be healthy and active.
